Prologue - My Almost Encounter With Carrie Fisher
On January 7, 2017 I was supposed to meet Carrie Fisher at a Comic Con in New Orleans. When I found out she passed December 27, 2016, my heart was broken.
Recently, back in July I discovered I suffered from bipolar disorder. My whole life seemed to make sense but I was sufficiently embaressed by it and wanted no one to know.
In around October, I realized Carrie Fisher, my favorite actress, had it as well and I read into her views. She was so open about it and I aspired to be the same. It took me a while but when she passed, I knew I had to. It was my time to tell the world of what she has done for me and thats exactly what I did.
I have become so open about my manic depression.
When I went to wizard con in New Orleans, where I was supposed to meet Carrie for the first time, I talked in front of a large group of people to Peter Mayhew, the original Chewbacca from the Star Wars movies. I stood in line to express my feelings of Carrie and when I got to the mic, this is what I said:
"Hi, as someone who suffers from bipolar disorder," the audience clapped, "She has helped me a lot and " As I choked up, I continued "Sorry im about to cry. I was just wondering what she was like... Like on set."
His wife recalled what I said to him and he responded humourously.
"Well, she was 5'3. 110 pounds." Everyone laughed. "She was exactly what you saw on screen. That was Carrie."
My heart began to throb. That was Carrie. Everything we saw was Carrie. The hunor, the sass, the atitude. All of it. That made me feel even more like I knew her.
About three times Ive had dreams of her. Im the type of person who believes that the dead visits you in your dreams. In all the dreams I've had with her they were deep conversations that I can hardly recall about her and her death and how I'm so glad I get to meet her now.
Each morning I wake up crying. Not sad, but a happy cry. Because I knew she was seeing me. I knew she was coming to me because she knew how much I cared for her. And that meant the world to me.
Below is a picture of the letter I had written to her before she passed.
My name is Mara Jade. And this is a book of everything and anything I can write about the beautiful Carrie Fisher.
